 SPECIAL NOTICE

2026 Social Media Platforms Change

In early 2025, the Town of Oak Island conducted a Social Media Survey to help review and refine the way social media platforms are used to engage with residents and visitors. This Survey was the first public action in a comprehensive overhaul of the Town's Social Media Policy.

In an effort to create a more focused, engaging social media presence several significant changes were made to the Town's existing Social Media Accounts, beginning in January 2026.

Click the tab below to learn more about these changes and the reasoning behind them.

Special Message on Social Media Changes

We understand that significant change can sometimes be alarming. These changes are the result of more than a year of dedicated research and analysis, and add to the mission of the Town's Communications Office.

If you have questions or would like to know more, contact the Communications Office through the Department Contact Form at the bottom of this page, or click the link below.
