IMPORTANT: the Town CANNOT transfer utilities from a property owner without documentation showing that a property has legally changed ownership (recorded deed, closing disclosure, or HUD statement after closing).
The steps required to establish Water & Wastewater Service through the Town of Oak Island are listed below. For further questions or concerns, contact the Customer Service Division of the Finance Department, by calling 910-278-5011, or emailing customerservice@oakislandnc.gov.
New Owners & Tenants
To Apply for Water & Wastewater Service:
- Fill out and submit an Application for Water & Wastewater Service (or CLICK HERE to download a PDF)
- Provide a copy of Closing Disclosure or Rental / Lease Agreement (NOTE: Applications CANNOT be accepted prior to closing)
- Provide a copy of Drivers License
- NOTE: Rental properties will require a $230 deposit for water service
Vacating Tenants
To Transfer Utility Services:
- Fill out and submit the Utility Service Transfer Request Form (or CLICK HERE to download a PDF)
- Provide a forwarding address for the final bill or refund of deposit
Bank Draft Services
The Bank Draft Service allows your checking account to be drafted for the balance due on your account on the due date.
To establish service:
- Fill out and submit the Public Utilities Bank Draft Authorization Form (or CLICK HERE to download a PDF)
- Provide a voided check
- Provide a copy of your driver's license
